Are you ready to be your own hero? No prior experience is required. No matter the skill level, size, or shape, there is a place for you in roller derby and with the San Marcos River Rollers.
The league welcomes female-identifying womxn, 18 years or older. Practices are twice per week on Sundays and Wednesdays, typically outdoors in San Marcos. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and monthly dues allow us to cover the expense of running the league. Dues are $20 per month during our season (January – October) for skaters who also participate in a work group and $40 per month for skaters with no work group participation. All league members must also purchase WFTDA insurance to skate. WFTDA insurance is an accidental supplemental insurance paid once annually. We highly recommend all skaters also carry their own primary medical insurance. To learn more and to purchase WFTDA insurance, click here. <https://resources.wftda.org/insurance/>
To get on the track, skaters must wear quad skates, knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, a helmet and a mouth guard. We highly recommend trying on skates and gear in person. The nearest roller derby skate shop is Medusa Skates in Austin, or you can try Roller Derby Recyclables on Facebook.
